Our Philosophy

Connection is key at Bridges Early Learning. The aha moment is our North Star.

We believe that children thrive in environments that are nurturing, inclusive, and playful — where every child feels safe, seen, and celebrated. Our diverse community is built on a foundation of belonging, and we are intentional in everything we do, from the spaces we create to the experiences we design.

We take a balanced approach to early childhood education, honoring the whole child by weaving together academic fundamentals with social and emotional learning. We know that excellence in school and in life grows from curiosity, confidence, and connection — not just academic achievement.

Our reflective practice means we continually evolve, drawing on the most effective techniques in early childhood education and Montessori principles that emphasize hands-on, child-led learning. We create rich opportunities for exploration and creativity, trusting children to lead the way while we walk alongside them.

Ms. Heather - Director & Lead Teacher

Ms. Heather began teaching to fulfill her passion for children, but it became her life’s vocation when she realized how amazing it was to make a positive impact on a child’s life.

A native to Western PA, Ms. Heather began her teaching career in Dublin, Ireland. Upon returning to the states, she continued following her passion for teaching, a journey which now spans over 20 years.

Her class subject matter is cultivated from fundamental early childhood teaching methodology. She focuses not only on the class but on each individual child that has been entrusted to her. Ms. Heather firmly believes that a child’s education should include a wide variety of experiences that both make learning fun and also prepare them for future stages of their schooling journey. As for her, Ms. Heather derives a great deal of satisfaction when she sees your child have an, “I get it!” moment.

Ms. Heather’s  educational background includes a Bachelor of Science from IUP, certification in Montessori teaching, and continuing education in early childhood development.

Miss. Gwen - Co-Teacher

Miss. Gwen started her time in early education in 2020 as a kids fitness instructor. She quickly discovered her passion for teaching young children how to navigate the world. Since then, she's taken on the role of full time co-teacher.

Seeing her students grasp a new concept brings her joy, but watching a child come out of their shell and blossom as an individual is her favorite part of teaching.

Along with her time at Bridges, Miss. Gwen has years of experience caring for and teaching children – primarily her six years of swim lessons with children of all ages.

Miss. Gwen is currently enrolled as a full time student pursuing a degree in child development.

Ms. Rennae - Co-Director

Ms. Rennae's background although not in education brings a different perspective with her financial background.  She is happy to take point on the administrative and financial work that keeps the school running smoothly so your teachers can focus on what they do best.

Ms. Rennae is originally from Lancaster, PA and made Pittsburgh her home a little over ten years ago. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Millersville University of Pennsylvania.

She is the proud momma of a Bridges graduate and knows first-hand the love and care that Ms. Heather and Miss Gwen invest into each student’s happiness and success.
